BRAZILIAN STORM

A “SELEÇÃO” OF WINNERS IN THE SAME BOAT

Brazilian Storm on attack mode

Brazil is known worldwide for its world and Olympic titles in football, volleyball and sailing. The nickname ‘Brazilian Storm’ comes from the recent history of success at the same time as the best results on Star Sailors League with Robert Scheidt, Bruno Prada & Jorge Zarif. The “Brasucas” as they are known have a history of sailing victories in major offshore and inshore races. With 18 Olympic medals and world titles in various classes, Brazilian sailors who compete in the events are always among the best in the ranking and they will leave their mark also on the first SSL Gold Cup in 2023, when the Brazilian Storm will sail altogether on the same 47 long boat.

Brazil invests in youth sailing every year. Not only does it boast 7.367 km of coastline, it has European heritage in the clubs and a line of famous families competing in the sport, best known are the Graels. Every January, more than 300 boats participate in the Optimist Championship. Brazilians also know how to host sailing events, such as the 2016 Olympics in Rio, world-class events such as Star and Snipe, 11 stopovers from The Ocean Race, arrivals from Transat Jacques Vabre and the traditional Sailing Week in Ilhabela.
